 Introduction
Welcome to the first ZooEasy newsletter of 2009! In this newsletter we would like to bring you up to date on the release and developments of ZooEasy Online, the results of the price reduction campaign and the release of ZooEasy stand alone version 8. In addition, we will inform you of the SKBN project that has now been completed. Lastly, you will also find our regular tips & tricks and agenda items in this newsletter and we would like to ask for your opinion of our demonstration version.
ZooEasy Online Developments
 As you have most probably read in our extra newsletter, ZooEasy Online has been brought onto the market last October. Different associations and clubs are by now using this online web application or will implement the program for their association or club shortly. The Dutch “Mooi Gelderland” organization, an organization created for the maintenance of heritage from the Dutch province of Gelderland such as traditional animal breeds of the province, will also be implementing ZooEasy shortly.
ZooEasy for the Dutch Organization of Petting Zoos (SKBN)
 The project for SKBN “Stichting Kinderboerderijen Nederland”, the organization of petting zoos in The Netherlands, has been completed. At present, the ZooEasy software packages are being distributed to the different petting zoos in The Netherlands. Last month an article about ZooEasy and its applications for petting zoos appeared in the trade magazine “Petting Zoos”. This is a publication of the SKBN organization.
ZooEasy Stand alone Version 8
Last December the latest version of ZooEasy stand alone, version 8, has been released. The version has already been ordered by many ZooEasy users. In summary, the new functionalities of version 8 are:
- The search functionality has been expanded with the option to search using wild cards. Hereby it is possible to search for animals with the color ‘white’ but also animals in which the color occurs with the search value ‘*white*’.
- Backups can automatically be created in different folders (for example 5). Hereby you can always read in previously created backups and you will avoid permanently removing data of previous days that is removed by mistake.
- The exporting of lists to Excel has been improved. The data is now exported to a file in a layout equal to the layout in ZooEasy.
- For a contact, a tab has been added on which you can easily retrieve all animals of which the contact is breeder and/or owner.
- For the relationships matrix, the cells that meet a certain minimum and maximum percentage can be marked. This is practical to quickly see the breeding pairs which satisfy certain relationship percentages.
- The show results, breeding pairs and logbook data of an animal can be retrieved from the detail screen of an animal. Accordingly, you directly have insight into all data of an animal.
- General documents can be recorded in ZooEasy with the new main menu item Documents. Hereby you can save, edit and open, for example, feeding schedules, forms and other hobby related documentation in ZooEasy.
- Network use is now possible starting from version 8. As such, ZooEasy can also be installed on a network disk. The advantage is that you can now open and edit the data of the same administration from multiple working locations.
- It is possible to apply a logbook item for all animals owned in one action. For example, when you have vaccinated all animals, you can now create a logbook item for each animal with just one action.

- Go to www.zooeasy.com
- Select an animal type
- Click Order Now
- Click the tab Subscriptions
- Select the download or CD-rom version
- Enter your serial number and/or client code and follow the steps

ZooEasy Price Reduction Campaign
From the first of September last year, the price for the ZooEasy stand alone download version has been reduced. The aim of this campaign was to attract more users and to increase awareness of ZooEasy. Following the success of the campaign, it has been decided to permanently maintain the reduced prices.

We are curious about your feedback with regard to our demonstration version. At ZooEasy we are always trying to carefully match ZooEasy to the wants and needs of our users. Therefore, your feedback is important to us. At present, we are interested in your opinion on the trial version of the program that can be downloaded from our website. Following are several practical tips for the optimal use of ZooEasy. Consulting the ZooEasy manual
Although this may seem rather obvious, it is strongly recommended to read the ZooEasy manual in detail. Often users are not aware of the many functions of ZooEasy that are described in this manual. With the help of the ZooEasy manual you could make optimal use of the program and its extensive functionality. You can consult the manual by clicking on Help in the opening screen of the program and subsequently, Contents. The manual will open in a new window. Requested license data not received?
Since December 2008, we frequently receive emails from customers indicating they did not receive their (requested) license data, asking for their data again. Unfortunately, we increasingly notice that the e-mail with license data can end up in the Spam box or does not get delivered at all. In the last case, the license email is usually blocked by the e-mail (internet) provider of our customer. Should this problem also occur in your case, please send us an email requesting the license data to be sent once again. We will then make sure you receive the requested data in another way. Blood relations
In the latest version of ZooEasy (version 8), the button Blood relations has been added on the Tab Other for animals. By clicking on this button, an overview is shown of all the blood relations of an animal. The related animals are split out over different tabs. For children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and for example ancestors, complete insight can be gained from one glance. Also the unrelated animals can be presented in a list. Improved export functionality
Following a Microsoft update, it was no longer possible for some customers to export to Excel. This is no longer an issue with the release of version 8. All lists can be exported again. Consequently, the exported data can be elaborately sorted, filtered and reported in Excel.
