 Introduction
Welcome to the last newsletter of 2007! In this newsletter once again various topics will be covered. First of all we would like to introduce you to our new helpdesk employee Jan Vissinga. Moreover, we will extensively inform you on the brand new ZooEasy Version 7 and the recently launched website. Also our corporate outing, the latest developments related to ZooEasy Online and the agenda for the upcoming period will be discussed. As always, we hope you will enjoy reading our newsletter.

“Since 2001 I have been working as an application manager. Working for large companies such as BaaN, ABN Amro and Achmea I have gained experience in the field and have provided first, second and third line support. Since September 1st I have been trained to take over the ZooEasy helpdesk from Karst Reudink. Hereby my experience and current work for one of the country’s largest insurance companies definitely comes in handy. As a user I am also familiar with ZooEasy. I use the program to register the breeding of my birds. Throughout the years I have therefore personally experienced the progress of ZooEasy. I am glad to now be part of this fantastic team and to be able to closely follow all developments of ZooEasy. The contrast between a small family company such as ZooEasy and a large insurance company is great. But one thing is certain; at ZooEasy I come back into contact with the customer. I therefore hope to always please you with a suitable answer.”
New in Version 7
ZooEasy version 7 has been released. Based on the customer survey carried out in the summer, this version of ZooEasy has been expanded with more functionality and is improved with regard to usability. We have extensively examined the points of attention brought forth by the survey. We have also listened very well to the different wishes expressed by our customers. What is new in this version?
- Calculation of inbreeding and relationship values without birth data.
- The option to publish pedigrees on an Internet page.
- The layout of the index card can be adjusted according to own insight. This means that the information that is printed on the index card can be personally determined. This way you can choose to print, or not print, for instance parents, breeder/owner, remarks, characteristics, measurements, logbook data or show results.
- Contacts can be allocated to categories that you can add yourself such as Supplier, Member and Veterinarians, to name just a few examples. Contacts can also be allocated to multiple categories.
- Because many users felt that the program offered too much functionality, it is now possible to switch off options that you do not use. Because of this it is possible to make the program as simple or elaborate as you wish. Of course you can clearly see which options are active.
- Also performance improvements have been carried out, causing for instance the searching by year to be faster.
- When filling out the animal registration number you can make a selection from a list of abbreviations of associations.
- A person who is a member of multiple associations can be registered with multiple codes.
- Outlook can now be used for sending email.

New Website
 Since the beginning of November the new ZooEasy website has been activated. After detailed analysis of the customer survey we have made different modifications to the ZooEasy website. Thanks to a new look and easy to navigate menu, the site has now become clearer and easier to use.
You can now download the latest updates from a separate Support page. Another important modification is the expansion of the list of frequently asked questions on the Support page. This list can be easily searched according to different question categories or simply by entering a search term. To get in contact with us you can now simply fill out the contact form by selecting “Contact” in the navigation menu. Furthermore, we have applied the ‘Tell a Friend’ principle. With this you can quickly and very simply draw someone’s attention to ZooEasy. Perhaps useful to make friends and colleagues aware of ZooEasy as well!
Progress Online Version
Several months ago we have carried out market research on the specific needs and requirements of breeding associations and herd books with regard to the ZooEasy Online version. From this research we have been able to determine what is important in such a web application and which options potential clients value most.
At this moment we have passed the design stage and will shortly begin the construction of ZooEasy Online. We expect to finish the prototype at the end of this year/ beginning of next year and plan to already bring the product to the market on the 1st of July 2008.
Corporate Outing ZooEasy
 On the 27th of October the ZooEasy team enjoyed a culinary corporate outing. All members of the team were invited to follow a cooking workshop at cooking studio House of Spice, together with their partners. After following the workshop, there was occasion to enjoy a meal together. A perfect combination of team building and socializing.
Tips & Tricks
Activating the license on your name
Do not type in the license code, but make use of the provided link. By clicking on the word license, in between brackets , ZooEasy is automatically activated on your name. Should the link not work, let us know and we will be able to help you activate ZooEasy on your name. Pasting the serial number & activation code in the license screen
In version 6 a common problem is the pasting of the serial number and the activation code in the license screen of ZooEasy. By not making use of the right mouse button when you wish to paste, but pressing the following two keys simultaneously, this problem can be prevented. Press the CTRL key (bottom left on the keyboard) simultaneously with the V key and the codes will be pasted. You can, as you are used to, copy normally with the right mouse button.
